Jack W. Marvin | Portfolio - Aircraft Graphics

Before computerized production equipment or "desktop publishing" was available, these graphics were created "by hand" by projecting the images on the living room wall!

My forward-vision and can-do attitude guided the client into the "information age".  The result was a state-of-the-art facility with digital art being created overnight and a tracking system for inventory.

Specific Duties:

  • Art Department Manager / Supervisor
  • Project Scheduling
  • Recommend and Maintain Equipment
  • Marketing & Promotional Materials
  • Scan and Digitize Blueprints
  • Hi-Resolution Production Films
  • Color Separations / Trapping
  • Darkroom Work

If you've ever been on a jet, then you've seen my work.  Working for Avion Graphics and Bill's Truck Lettering, I helped produce exterior markings, engine decals, interior placards, and just about everything else that the FAA requires for a jet to fly.  Working with aircraft suppliers taught that"good" is not good enough, as their requirements are very demanding.

Style #1

Style 1 Apocalypse (orange)

This look for my site is my personal favorite.  It suits my personality pretty well, ...during work hours.  (X)

Style #2

Style 2 Stones (burgundy)

Have a nice glass of wine someplace historic.  There's nothing better on a nice sunny day.  (X)

Style #3

Style 3 Diamond Plate (slate)

Tough & Reliable, ...with a no-stick surface.  If you want it to last, do it right.  (X)

Group 2 Tab

Style #4

Style 4 Fire (red)

Loud and obnoxious style.  Let this be a tribute to all those who fight our California wildfires.  (X)

Style #5

Style 5 Wood (brown)

Nice warm Earth-tones, ...ahhhh.  Promotes a sence of peace and security.  (X)

Style #6

Style 6 Nature (green)

A theme to remind us of great things in nature.  Reminds me of early morning mountains in the Northwest.  (X)

Style #7

Style 7 Barney (purple)

Here's one for the kids.  These colors have always been popular with young people.  (X)

Style #8

Style 8 Surf & Sky (blue)

Inspired by Southern California "surf culture".  It suits me on the weekend during the summer.  (X)

Style #9

Style 9 Rusty (teal)

Salty-air smells great, ...but eats metal.  Sometimes that's the price we pay on the coast.  (X)
